Best kept secret [electronic resource] / Jeffrey Archer.
The third in the series of the Clifton Chronicles, "Best Kept Secret" is set in 1945. As the story begins, we learn that the trial in the House of Lords to determine who will inherit the family fortune has ended with the fortune bestowed on either Harry Clifton or Giles Barrington. Harry decides to go to America to promote his new book while Emma Barrington, his love and his wife by the end of the novel, tries to track down the poor child that was found abandoned in her father's office after his death. Meanwhile, Giles Barrington finds he is defending his position in the House of Lords against a powerful, select conservative group. The book ends with Emily and Harry's son gaining a sholarship to Cambridge but being expelled from his current school. He also becomes involved in an art fraud involving a Rodin statue. Now Sebastian must make decisions: should he go to Cambridge? Should he continue being involved in the art heist and weigh the risk against the possible fortune he might make? Finally there is the most important question, is someone actually out to kill him?
